The new holiday season in the Gambia has officially begun after a Thomas Cook flight landed bearing holidaymakers on Saturday.
The Danish tourists were greeted by a special display put on by the Gambian tourist board to mark the start of the new season. Last year saw slightly disappointing numbers of tourists flying into Banjul for a bit of winter sun, but tourism officials are confident that this year will prove more productive with many booking already having been made.
There are a number of package holidays available to the Gambia, which may prove popular with tourists who want to keep tighter control on their holiday finances.
