Leeds-Bradford Airport is looking into starting a daily flight service to New York, saying it would bring £10million to the region as well as 400 jobs.
The airport has begun Project America which is aimed at attracting a US airline who could offer the service. Leeds-Bradford Airport’s commercial director, Tony Hallwood, says that Yorkshire is the largest area in the UK that does not currently offer a direct New York flight route and as the US is the most significant long haul flight destination for UK travellers, this is a notable gap.
The US is the destination most requested by travellers who pass through Leeds-Bradford and a daily service to New York would certainly raise the profile of the region.
