The first of Air France’s A380 flights from Paris to New York too off this morning. The A380 is the largest passenger aircraft ever built.
Air France is the first European airline to offer seats on this giant aircraft and they will be offered daily on this particular flight route. The A380 is large enough that it can accommodate up to 800 passengers, although Air France
have settled for a more humane 535.
Also on board this vast plane are three bars, so passengers can get up and about and combat DVT. Seats are around 5 per cent wider than average as well, although that’s probably not enough that you’ll notice. More promisingly, the chairs are designed with a higher hinge point for the recline feature, which means your legs will get less squashed by the person in front.
Amazingly, the A380 is also 50 per cent quieter than a 747-400.
