Following the A380’s inaugural flight to New York, Air France have now announced plans to offer a route from Paris to Johannesburg next year.
Starting in February, there will be three flights a week on this route until March, when they will become daily. These will be the first commercial flights to South Africa for the A380 Airbus.
The A380 features six bars and room for 538 passengers in the seating configuration used by Air France. The benefits to the airline are that is approximately one fifth more economical to run and produces less carbon dioxide, which is a key concern with future initiatives likely to clamp down on carbon emissions by airlines.
